RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children)
Personal Journey — Community Journey
Have you ever wanted to know more about your faith? Have you ever been asked by a family member or friend to explain why you are a Catholic? Has anyone ever asked you for information about “becoming” Catholic? If so, then RCIA/RCIC is for you!!
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)/RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) is the process of living, learning and growing in one’s faith journey. RCIA/RCIC is most of all a living experience of the Church. RCIA/RCIC team members and “inquirers” or candidates come together in a journey of conversion. We seek to deepen that “Conversion is a process begun by the Holy Spirit. The desire that a person exhibits for becoming a Christian is a response to what the Spirit has already begun” * in one’s life.
RCIA/RCIC is a community event. “The initiation of adults and children is about the Christian community initiating new members into itself and, therefore, it must take place in community. The RCIA/RCIC sees the Church as community, as us, and it also sees us as the primary ministers of the RCIA/RCIC.” *
“It takes a community to make a Christian.” At Holy Redeemer, we welcome “inquirers” and members of the parish community to embark on a journey of conversion. We initiate newcomers into the “body of believers and establish a living bond between the new Christians and ourselves as Church.” *
