· Safe Haven. Thanks to Mary and Bob Wassman for all their efforts in organizing two weeks of Safe Haven this year. We started with 14 guests, however one of the men was in a serious accident. Mary Ann and Frank Denevan will co-chair with the Wassmans next year.
· I still need to put the Social Services Resource List on the Web.
· 12 – 15 blankets, plus some money, were collected for our soldiers.
b. Liturgy – Kathy Nieman
· See attached report.
· Father George said that the cost of buses for the Papal Visit will be $10 per person.
See attached report.
· The spring retreat is coming up.
· The Youth Group will be doing a flower sale.
· The Beach Trip is scheduled for the last week of June.
· See attached report.
f. Finance- Mike Wilson was absent.
g. Facilities Planning –Bob Pizzano was absent.
· Father reported that the work on the roof is guaranteed. If water is standing for more than 48 hours, the roofer is responsible for correcting the problem.
5. Old Business - None
6. New Business
· Mary Wassman will put a notice about Council elections in the
March 29 – 30 bulletin. Brenda Cooley, Dave Fortuna, and Mollie Huitema
offered to help with the elections, which are scheduled for April 26 – 27.
· Father has received a proposal from New Pros, Inc. to provide names and addresses of people who move into the parish. He asked that the Council consider this proposal. It was suggested that we first develop our own packet of information so that we can act on the new addresses; the school already has a packet available. Stephanie Solari is a possible contact to develop materials to present to possible parishioners. Are there any archdiocesan guidelines on this question? The Council agreed that we should do this. Kathy Nieman noted that we make sure the parish is advertised in the local media.
· We need an ad hoc committee to look at the parish’s mission statement and decide if it should be revised. Father will mail the statement, and we will consider this question at the next meeting.
· It’s time to start thinking about the parish’s 100th anniversary. What was done for the 75th? Brenda Cooley, Rita Thompson, Lynn Baker, and Sean Ballantine offered to work on this.
· Father wants to sponsor a party for his 75th birthday. Details are not yet decided.
· Bob Shaulis suggested two yard sales as fundraisers: one at the end of April for the Youth Group and the second sometime in May for the parish. Bob and Lynn will go ahead with this idea. Father will look into insurance.
7. There were no comments from parishioners in attendance.
8. The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at 7:30
9. Father George closed the meeting with a prayer.
Respectfully submitted,
Mollie Huitema
Lent Summary:
Stations of the Cross were conducted every Friday except March 7.
March 7 was the monthly Mass for Peace.
A Simple Meal and an Evening Prayer Service were held on Wednesdays at 6:30 and 7:30. The collection for Community Place Café has been very successful, ranging from $50 to $90.
Confessions were available on Wednesdays of Lent.
A Lent Reconciliation Service was conducted on March 10.
Four weeks of Bible study were completed, finishing the Acts of the Apostles. Eighteen people signed up.

Evening Prayer continues each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. until Pentecost, except for April 30 (Confirmation).
The Papal Mass will be on April 17. Three adults from our parish are singling in the Papal Mass Choir (some children may sing, as well). Submissions for the parish lottery for Mass tickets are due April 4.
Pentecost will be on May 11. There will be an Evening Prayer service at 4 p.m.
Mary Katherine Theis has agreed to replace me as the liturgy representative on the parish council.
The School Advisory Board met on March 12. The following items were reported:
1. Fall Registration – we have approximately 241 students currently registered, and we continue to interview students for open slots. Since the budget is based on enrollment of 240, we are in good shape.
2. Report cards will be distributed 3/19, and the quarterly awards ceremony will be on Friday, April 4.
3. Inductions into the National Junior Honor Society were held Friday, March 14.
4. The Spring Musical is The Music Man, scheduled for May 15.
5. We had a visit from the Catholic Schools Office on March 4, and we made a very good impression.
6. Three children from the school will be participating in the Papal Choir for the Pope’s Mass on April 17. While those children will be at the Mass, the rest of the school’s curriculum for that day will center on the pope, and many classes will watch the Mass on television.
7. Mrs. Jones has completed all teacher evaluations.
8. Ms. Eller is the Holy Redeemer “Teacher of the Year” and she will be considered for the award to be given by the Catholic Business Network.
9. Mrs. Jones is still working on the 5-year plan, but the tuition projections are complete.
In addition to these items reported, the Board completed an evaluation of Mrs. Jones. The report was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the excellent job Mrs. Jones has done. Particular items of commendation included Mrs. Jones strong support for her staff, as well as the significant leadership role Mrs. Jones plays not only in Holy Redeemer, but in the diocesan schools system as well. The Board also noted the fact that Mrs. Jones has completed her Masters degree, and discussed whether the Parish could adjust her salary to reflect that expertise and experience.
