Holy Redeemer 100 Year Anniversary

Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in College Park, Maryland will be celebrating its 100^th year anniversary in 2012 and a committee has been formed to help with the planning for celebrating this milestone event. For 100 years, Holy Redeemer Church has created a strong foundation of service and community for thousands of parishioners.

The 100 Year Committee meets monthly (committee meeting schedule for 2012). Everyone in the Holy Redeemer community is welcome to attend these meetings and share their thoughts and talents to help make the anniversary celebration a wonderful success.

Parish Mission – February 25-29:

As part of the parish 100^th Anniversary celebration, a parish mission will be held from Saturday, February 25–Wednesday, February 29, presented by Fr. Steven G. Frenier, OFM Conventual. Parishioners of all ages will benefit from this experience. DETAILS.

100 Anniversary Historical Booklet:

As part of the parish 100^th Anniversary celebration, an historical booklet is being generated containing a written history and numerous pictures of the parish throughout the last 1-- years. In order to cover the cost of this publication and to allow individuals and businesses in the community to participate in our celebration, we are soliciting advertisements or congratulatory messages to be placed therein. Thank you to everyone who participated in helping to make the new Parish Pictorial Directory.

If you had your picture taken for the directory but did not order extra pictures, your free 8×10 is at the Parish office.
Please call the Parish office at 301-474-3920 to make arrangements to pick up your picture.

For those who had their picture taken for the directory but have not picked up their copy, please contact Rita Thompson (email: ritat2@verizon.net, phone: 301-384-5996).

Parish Directories are available for purchase by individuals who did not have their picture taken for the directory. The cost is $15 per directory.

Volunteers Needed:

Please think about sharing your time and talents and consider helping with one of the many upcoming events to celebrate Holy Redeemer’s 100 years.

We are currently looking for people willing to help produce a Holy Redeemer 100 year book. There are two anniversary books; one at 60 years and 75 years, so there is material on which to build upon.

Some of the volunteers we need for the 100 year book are as follows:

Photographers – persons willing to take pictures at the various 100 year events starting with the kick-off which will be an ice cream social after the 10:00 a.m. Mass on June 12, 2011 through the 100 Year Mass of celebration on June 17, 2012.
Writers – persons willing to capture the last 25 years of history and write and put together the history of Holy Redeemer Church and Community over the last 100 years (1912-2012).
Technology – persons with expertise in using available software to produce the 100 year book to be sent out for production into a hard covered book.
