Excellence in Education with the Power of Faith
Holy Redeemer School in College Park, Maryland, was opened September 1, 1931, by the Sisters of Providence. We are a Catholic community committed to providing quality education within a Christian environment. The school offers an educational program that is designed to respect the dignity of all students, recognize individual differences, and promote social justice and other Gospel values as integral elements of Christian living.
We affirm the role of parents as primary educators. Holy Redeemer School strives to support parents by encouraging and motivating their children to realize their potential for academic excellence, creativity, self-discipline, spirituality, physical fitness, and social awareness.

Principal's Letter, November 2008
Dear Parents and Students,
This is my favorite time of year - the season for Giving Thanks. We have so much to be thankful for at Holy Redeemer School. Over the Columbus Day weekend, our wonderful parent volunteers worked together in replacing all the ceiling tiles in the school classroom hallway and painting the library/computer room hallway. They also installed new carpeting on the mezzanine level and the steps leading to the school. The steps leading to the FSR will be completed before the Harvest Bazaar.
Holy Redeemer School and Parish received a very generous donation of a new computer server. In order to handle this Ferrari of a server, we invested in a new hub and computer switches. This was followed up with a donation of 24, almost new, PC’s. Several of these new PC’s will be placed in our middle school classrooms. Two new overhead projectors with carts were also donated to our school this past month and our own HSA purchased a year’s subscription to Grolier Encyclopedia and Book Flix, both of which are accessible on-line from home or school. We are so very thankful for all of these donations, which will ensure that our students stay current in the use of technology.
In looking to the future, our new school web site should be up and running by January 2009. A committee will meet weekly to design a more dynamic, user-friendly web site. In addition, several of our teachers and staff have been spending many hours writing grants for additional LCD projectors, DVD players and other new technology.
Through the combined efforts of our teachers, staff, parish and parent volunteers, Holy Redeemer School continues to excel. We thank God for providing our school and community with so many blessings.
Faithfully in Christ,
Maria Bovich

Terracycle Is Here!
Holy Redeemer School has been approved to collect and recycle Capri Sun, Kool-Aid, and similar juice pouches that most families drink. This is a great way for the school to make money and to recycle packaging so that it doesn’t go into the landfill. For every pouch that we send back to the company, the school receives at least One Cent back. Please bring in your juice pouches and put them in the bins clearly marked “Terracycle” in the Four Seasons Room at lunch period. Johnathan Grubb of the 7th Grade has volunteered to help coordinate the collection of the packages; cleaning them and returning them to Terracycle. The school will receive a check twice a year, which we can use to help our school continue to grow. Please help!
